The most painless way of doing this is by installing the Tabbrowser Preferences extension at this URL: http://www.intraplanar.net/projects/tabprefs/ Install the XPI file and restart Firefox.
Now, go to Tools Menu, and select Options. Click “Extensions”, and select “Tabbrowser Preferences”. Click the Options button at the bottom. And away you go!
