Dear Santa, can I please have a Windows version of something very much like Konfabulator for Christmas, so I can script with JavaScript for the desktop? That would be pretty neat. I’ll be good.

Windows 9x,2K & XP have ‘Windows Script Hosting’ support - which means JavaScript based applications on the desktop.
No built-in UI integration and all the ‘almost there’ COM interfaces that drive you nuts.
You just write a .wsh file - it’s got a specific XML format but you can look that up.
I don’t know Konfabulator - I’ll check it out & see what Windows needs to do something similar.
